Tunisian Literature in French: Literature, Imagination and History
The book, published by the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts “Beit al-Hikma”, contains intellectual and literary approaches presented by a group of academics and creators during workshops and study days. These events were organised by the Academy’s Literature Department and focused on Tunisian literary works in French.
The interventions explore the manifestations of acculturation and the ways international creative genres influence and impact each other. This highlights the universal nature of the creative text, despite its specific characteristics.
Furthermore, the book’s content addresses the commitment of literary works to their historical issues, given their transformative tasks that go beyond the functions of contemplation, description and narration of events.
