South-Eastern Tunisia: The way to future prospects

The book documents the proceedings of a scholarly conference on South-Eastern
Tunisia, organised by the Tunisian Beit El Hikma Academy of Science,
Literature and Art in cooperation with the Arid Regions Institute on 4 April 2018.
The Collected papers consist in multidisciplinary studies by academics and
experts whose interest for years centred on heritage and development studies,
problems of natural and human resources management, and the processes of
social and economic change in South-Eastern Tunisia. They studied the main
obstacles to development and threats to resources. The authors identified those
problems, and suggested practical solutions such as rationalising resource
management and adopting effective ways of laying down development policies
mindful of the importance of the region for strategy and security.
